Gauchos Defeat Thompson River in Non-Conference Matchup

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Glendale Community College baseball came away with a non-conference victory over Thompson River University Monday afternoon, defeating the Wolfpack 8-7. The win moves the Gauchos to 13-4 overall.

Brody Ghanbari went 4-for-4 with 2 RBIs in the contest, leading the Gaucho offense that had 12 hits in 33 at-bats. Brayden Bullard went 2-for-3 in the game with one walk. Andrew Shakespeare, Hayden Smith, Cayden Cooper, Andrew Balian, Logan Leavitt, and Brock Berlan all had 1 hit for the Gauchos and combined for 5 RBIs in the contest. The Gauchos did not strike out once for the game, but left 11 men on base.

Bryce Bruning picked up the win for the Gauchos, his first of the season, pitching 2 scoreless innings and striking out 2 or the 6 batters he faced. After the Wolfpack put up 5 runs in the first inning, the Gauchos bullpen only allowed 2 runs in 7 innings of relief, striking out 8 batters and giving up 5 hits.

The Gauchos return to conference play this week when they host Gateway Community College, Tuesday, February 24th and then travel to Gateway on the 25th. The Geckos come into this series with a record of 4-13 overall, 1-7 in ACCAC play. Both Tuesday and Wednesday's games are scheduled to start at 3 P.M.
