GCC Softball starts conference play by sweeping Mesa CC. 

In game one, the Gauchos won 2-0 in 8 innings. Sophomore Priscilla Armendariz pitched all 8 innings for the Guachos earning her first win of the season. Priscilla only allowed 2 hits against the Thunderbirds with 7 strikeouts. In the 8th inning Freshman Brooke Hoffman started on second for the intrnational tie breaker. Sophomore Madeline Caskey layed down a sacrifice bunt to move brooke to third base. Sophomore Hailey Chandler layed down another bunt for a hit. Freshman Dani Chairez was due next and got a hit to score the Guachos first run of the game. Priscilla Armendariz then came up to the plate and singled up the middle to score the Gauchos second run. 

In game two, the Guachos won 9-0 in 5 innings. Sophomore Destiny Rubalcava started in the circle for the Gauchos and pitched 4 innings earning her first win on the season. Destiny allowed only 3 hits against the Thunderbirds. Freshman Casey Evans finished in the circle and threw the 5th innings and going 3 up and 3 down against the Thunderbirds lineup. The Gauchos lineup scored 1 run in the second inning, 4 runs in the third and 4 runs in the fourth. Sophomores Hailey Chandler, Taylor James, Jade Mineer and Freshmans Dani Chairez, Zerianna Gomez, Aryanna Edwards, Taylor Agaman and Sammantha Hughes all had hits that pushed the Gauchos to another win. Sammantha Hughes went 2 for 3 with a double and had 3 RBIs. Jade Mineer went 2 for 2, scored twice and had 1 RBI. 

Your Gauchos are back on the road Tuesday, February 3rd to play Paradise Valley CC.
