The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed in the NJCAA Region I Championships on Friday, October 25th. While neither team had the full compliment of 5 runners to score and advance as a team, the Gaucho men and women competed hard and had a couple of outstanding individual efforts.
In the women's race, Nicole Navaro, formerly of Mountain Ridge High School, had a good race, establishing her position early and holding on to finish 12th overall. This was good enough for Nicole to advance to the National Championship meet next week! Taylor James also ran well for the Lady Gauchos.
In the Men's race, Kade Ruff had an outstanding run, steadily working his way up to 8th position in the race, and ultimately finishing in 10th place. This was also good enough for Kade to qualify for the National Championship! Alex Yowell and Mariano Ortega-Vazquez also had good efforts for the Gaucho men.
Congratulations to both Kade and Nicole! Cross Country Nationals will be in Richmond, Virginia on Saturday, November 9th. Go Gauchos!!
