Gauchos Show Well, Set PRs at NAU Tune Up Meet

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Glendale Community College track and field had a strong showing at the NAU Tune Up meet on Friday, February 20th.

Noah Brezina finished 5th in the men's weight throw. His 16.52 meter mark was the best of any NJCAA program participating in the event. Brezina also placed 9th in the men's shot put with a 13.00 meter mark. Isaiah Packer finished 17th  and Kenneth Hill finished 20th in the event.

Micah Carter finished 6th in the men's long jump, with a 6.71 meter mark, the second best performance of any NJCAA individual for the event. Luigi Vargas and Niklas Hauck finished in 16th and 17th for the long jump event, with Brian Rolley and Eni Benoit Achaleke finishing in 20th and 21st.

Corey Beckman and Kenneth Hill each set new personal records in the men's high jump event. Beckman's 1.8 meters was good for 13th place, while Hill's 1.7 meters was good for 18th place.

Aejaie Horbert placed 3rd in the men's 60 meter hurdles event, with a time of 8.15. Ricky Torres finished in 4th place with an 8.28 mark. Connor Sanchez set a new personal record in preliminaries for the event with an 8.55 mark, but failed to make the finals.

Tyreeq Jones, Jalen Bradford, and Jacoby Lamar all qualified for the finals of the men's 60 meter dash, with Jones winning the event with a time of 6.69. Both Lamar and Bradford set new personal bests with Lamar finishing in 4th place and Bradford in 6th.

Arizona State University signee Konrad Clark took the top spot in the men's 400 meter event, with his 46.55 second mark now being 4th in the NJCAA. Cole Carpenter finished just behind Clark, with his 46.57 time being good for a personal best and 7th in the NJCAA. Zion McCray finished 8th with a new personal best time of 49.96 seconds. Roman Zamarron also set a new personal record with a time of 50.74, good for 14th place in the event.

Clark (1st), Bradford (3rd) and Carpenter (4th) took 3 of the top 4 spots in the men's 200 meter event, with Clark taking the top spot thanks to a 21.05 mark, good for 6th best in the NJCAA. Jacoby Lamar placed 7th in the event with a 21.79 mark.

The Gauchos will turn their attention to the NJCAA Indoor National meet, taking place next weekend March 6-7 in Topeka, Kansas.
