GLENDALE, Ariz. - Glendale Community College men's basketball picked up 2 wins last week against Benedictine Mesa JV and Yavapai College. With the victories, the Gauchos moved to 8-1 on the season.
Tuesday November 18th vs. Benedictine Mesa JV
Kenny White (St. Mary's) led the scoring for the Gauchos against the Redhawks, finishing with 29 points, 9 assists, and 3 rebounds. Malaki Garnica (Brophy) ended with 16 points on 7-of-15 from the field and 2 rebounds. Kai Hogan (Brophy) and Memphis James (Coconino) each had 13 points off the bench and combined to shoot 6-of-13 from beyond the arc. The Gauchos had 30 assists on 45 made baskets, while shooting 57.7% from the floor and 50% from distance.
Friday November 21st at Yavapai College
Kenny White once again led the charge for the Gauchos. White had 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. Yual Lam (Lincoln Southwest) had 14 points off the bench for the Gauchos, on 5-of-8 from the field. Memphis James had 10 points in 9 minutes, while not missing a shot during the contest. The Gauchos shot 48.3% from the field, had 11 assists on 29 made field goals, and forced 18 Yavapai turnovers. Each team had 7 made 3-point field goals for the game, but the Gauchos went 8-of-11 (72.7%) from the foul line compared to the Roughriders' 11-of-19 (57.9%).
Glendale Community College men's basketball begins conference play tonight at Phoenix College, who currently sit at 5-3 overall. Last season, the Gauchos took 2 out of 3 games against the Bears. Tip-off for tonight's contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
