Glendale Community College men's basketball started off the season with an emphatic victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Phoenix Prep Post Grad 110-60.
Kaleb Conley led the scoring for the Gauchos, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-9 from the field. Conley, a freshman from Boulder Creek high school, also had 4 rebounds, 2 steals, one assist and one block. Stephan Miller (Liberty) contributed 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Kai Hogan (Brophy) and Memphis James (Coconino) each contributed 14 points and shot a combined 8-of-13 from beyond the arc. The Gauchos shot 50.7% from the floor, 44.4% from beyond the arc, 75% from the foul line, and had 29 assists on 38 made field goals. Seven different players for the Gauchos ended the game scoring in double-figures and every player scored during the contest.
Glendale Community College men's basketball will return to action this week, as they participate in the Mesa Community College Thunderbird Classic tournament being held November 6-8. The Gauchos will play Park University Gilbert JV on Thursday, November 6th, Morton College on Friday, November 7th, and Community Christian College on Saturday, November 8th. Thursday and Friday's contests are scheduled for 5 p.m., while Saturday's contest will take place at 3 p.m.
