Glendale Community College men's basketball picked up their third straight victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Mesa Community College 69-58. The win moves the Gauchos to 16-8 overall, 8-6 in the ACCAC. The victory gives the Gauchos a clean sweep in the series against the Thunderbirds, winning all three matchups this season.
Lamont Johnson (Central) led all scorers in the contest with 22 points on 9-of-19 from the field. Johnson also snagged a game high 16 rebounds to go along with 2 assists and 1 block. Jordan Kuac (Ironwood) contributed 19 points, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds. Chase Pavey (Sunrise Mountain) gave the Gauchos a huge spark off the bench, finishing with 17 points on 6-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. While the Gauchos did not have their best shooting display, they did have 14 assists on 26 made field goals and outrebounded the Thunderbirds 38-36.
After 4 straight games on the road, Glendale Community College men's basketball will return to action at home on Wednesday, February 19th, when they host 2nd ranked Pima Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
