Gauchos Split With Scottsdale

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Glendale Community College baseball earned a split during their mid-week series against Scottsdale Community College on March 10th and 11th. The split moves the Gauchos record to 20-10 overall, 10-8 in conference play.

Tuesday March 10th, 5-4 win (11 innings)

Four different Glendale batters had 2 or more hits as the Gauchos walked-off the Artichokes in extras, 5-4. Hayden Smith was 3-for-5 with 2 runs batted in during the game. Josue Malave, Logan Leavitt, and Cayden Cooper all had 2 hits for the contest. Brock Berlan, Lucian Dixon, and Diego Chavez each came away with a hit for the Gauchos as well. The Gauchos had 12 hits in 39 at-bats, leaving 15 men on base.

Wednesday March 11th, 9-7 loss

Late runs in the 8th and 9th innings weren't enough as the Gauchos fell to the Artichokes in game 2 of the series, 9-7. Nomar Topete and Logan Leavitt each had 2 hits in the game, with Leavitt snagging an RBI. Brock Berlan, Josue Malave, and Lucian Dixon had the remaining 3 hits for the Gauchos. The Gauchos had 7 hits in 33 at-bats, leaving 18 men on base.

Parker Staheli threw 5 innings for the Gauchos, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 6 batters. Aydin Chippindall took the loss for the Gauchos, his third of the season. Bryce Bruning and Brady Anderson pitched the final 2 and ⅔ innings for the Gauchos, combining for 4 runs on 4 hits and striking out 3 batters.

Glendale Community College baseball will have a quick turnaround as they host Madison College in a non-conference matchup Thursday, March 12th for a double-header. The Wolfpack out of Madison, Wisconsin currently sit at 1-2 overall. Both games will be played at Glendale with first pitches scheduled for 12 P.M. and 2 P.M.
