GLENDALE, Ariz. - Glendale Community College baseball split their doubleheader with Pima Community College this past Saturday. After Saturday's contests, the Gauchos now sit at 15-6 overall, 7-5 in ACCAC play.

Game 1, 7-6 win

Seven different Gaucho batters recorded an RBI in the first game of the doubleheader, with the Gauchos defeating the Aztecs 7-6. Josue Malave and Lucian Dixon each went 2-for-3 on the day with Malave adding a walk and Dixon coming away with a stolen base in the contest. Hayden Smith was 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Cayden Cooper was 1-for-3 in the game with a triple and an RBI. The Gauchos had 10 hits in 27 at-bats. They left 16 men on base.

Brady Anderson picked up the win for the Gauchos, his first of the season. Anderson threw 5 innings, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits and striking out 3 of the 21 batters he faced. Parker Staheli earned the save for Glendale, his second of the season, throwing one inning, with one strikeout and 1 walk.

Game 2, 12-2 loss (5 innings)

Diego Chavez and David Daniels each had an RBI, but it wasn't enough for the Gauchos as they dropped the second game on the day 12-2. Logan Leavitt, Lucas Andrews, and Everrett Sanderson all had 1 hit in the game. The Gauchos only managed to get 6 hits in 20 at-bats. They left 9 men on base.

Aydin Chippindall took the loss for the Gauchos, his first of the season, after throwing 3 and ⅓ innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits. The Gauchos pitching staff combined to throw 5 innings, giving up 12 runs (11 earned) on 13 hits and only striking out 3 batters for the day.

Glendale Community College baseball continues ACCAC play this week starting on Tuesday, March 3rd, with a mid-week series against Paradise Valley Community College. The Pumas come into the matchup 10-14 overall, 5-7 in conference play. Tuesday's game will be played at Glendale, with Wednesday's game taking place at Paradise Valley. Both games will begin at 3 P.M.
