GLENDALE, Ariz. - Glendale Community College baseball notched a commanding 9-1 victory in 8 innings on Tuesday afternoon against Grand Canyon University club. The win moves the Gauchos to 8-2 overall.
Andrew Balian went 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and scored a run in the contest. Diego Chavez had a home run and finished with 3 RBIs on the day. Jeremy Tirado was 1-for-1 on the day and had 2 RBIs. Brock Berlan, Kyson Milne, Trey Butler and Lucas Andrews all had a stolen base in the contest. The Gauchos had 13 hits in 31 plate appearances. They left 18 men on base.
GCC used 7 different pitchers in the 8 innings, with Rolando Valles picking up the win, his first of the season. The Gauchos pitching staff struck out 5 batters and walked 5 batters, but only allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 8 innings.
Glendale Community College baseball returns to action this week with a 2-game series against Mesa Community College on Friday, February 13th and Saturday, February 14th. Friday's game will be played at home and will start at 2 P.M., while Saturday's game will be played at Mesa and will begin at 12 P.M.
