GLENDALE, Ariz. - Hayden Smith, Lucian Dixon, and Brock Berlan combined for all 6 of the Gauchos' runs batted in as Glendale Community College baseball came away with a commanding 8-0 victory over Phoenix College in 7 innings. With the win, the Gauchos sit at 6-1 on the season.
The Gauchos combined for 11 hits, in 31 plate appearances, only striking out 7 times during the contest. Berlan, snagged his 3rd stolen base of the season and was 2-for-3 in the contest. Dixon's lone hit in the contest was an RBI double, his second extra base hit of the season. He also contributed with a sacrifice fly. Smith was 2-for-4 in the contest and scored a run.
Seven different Gaucho pitchers combined to strike out 8 batters for the game. The pitching staff gave up 2 hits and 3 walks in the contest. Lokan Folino came away with the win, striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. It was Folino's first win of the season.
Glendale Community College baseball returns to action and begins ACCAC play this weekend with a 2-game series against Scottsdale Community College. Friday's game will be played at Scottsdale Community College, with first pitch scheduled for 3 P.M. Saturday's game will be played at Glendale Community College, with first pitch scheduled for 12 P.M.
